About
What is Museum of Life Photography?
Museum of Life Photography is a freelance photography service based in NYC that specializes in Couples, Engagement, Proposal and Small Wedding photoshoots. Museum of Life, as the name suggests aims to capture couples in their truest to life form with a focus on prompts and actions rather than poses. The idea is to capture couples not just for their looks, but for their personalities, their chemistry and their lives with each other.
Hi, I’m Ali, the Photographer
I am a professional photographer from Houston, TX, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. I am a car fanatic and an avid follower of Formula 1 since 2014. I went to my first F1 race in 2022 and it was probably one of the best weekends of my life so far (don’t tell my wife I said that). I also love the mountains. I try and visit the rockies once every year and love hiking through the trails.
As I was growing up, I found photography as an expression of my creative thought-process. Of course, at that time it was a flip phone camera, then a point and shoot, then a DSLR and now a mirrorless. At every step, I loved finding new and interesting perspectives of things and put them in a new light. I try to do the same with my couples.
FAQs
What is the booking process?
Once you have a date and time finalized, you can fill out the inquiry form to reach out to me. I will then respond within 24-48 to finalize the details and availability. Once we’re ready to proceed, a deposit and contract will be due to reserve the date and time.
How Did You Get Started Doing This Type Of Work?
I was 12 years old when I visited Dubai to visit my uncle, who was a NatGeo accredited wildlife photographer. I was fascinated by his work ethic to create unique perspectives and incorporate a creative aspect in every one of his images. I was instantly hooked and started doing photography with a small point and shoot camera.
Do you allow outfit changes during the photoshoot?
I sure do! Based on my experience, outfit changes can be a great way to compliment different sides of your relationship. However, they can be a little time consuming, especially for an outdoor photoshoot. Hence, outfit changes are currently only included in photoshoots of 1.5 hour and longer.
Do you edit the pictures?
Editing is what separates the style and looks of one photographer from another, and over the years I have developed my own editing style that I keep consistent in my portfolio. I would describe my style as warm, nostalgic and cinematic. I don’t photoshop your bodies, features or clothes. You’re beautiful as you are.
Can you help me decide the location, outfits and such?
Ofcourse, as a photographer, I tend to get around town and explore a lot of places but none of the places are as important as one that’s meaningful to you. Think about places that hold meaning to you and we can discuss further. As for the outfits, earthy tones along with pastels make for the best contrast in the images. Feel free to discuss more with me based on the location and time of day.
What if it rains on the day of the photoshoot?
It wouldn’t be NYC if there wasn’t unpredictable weather making you check your phone every time you go out. Luckily, I do like shooting in the rain/snow because I think it gives this moody/intimate look to the images. However, I do understand if that’s not the vision you had for the photoshoot, hence, I do allow for 1 raincheck to reschedule the date and time based on availability.
